A pharmaceutical company has ordered the government to pay $1.1 billion to settle allegations it illegally imported erectile dysfunction drugs, including Viagra, from China, which it has long denied. "Viagra is a safe drug and is being sold in China, but the FDA has failed to provide a definitive justification," said the report, which was released late Monday. "The FDA is taking serious action and will continue to act to ensure that Viagra is not sold to any person in China."

Pfizer has denied it had the drug shipped from China, citing the US Food and Drug Administration's statement that it had received from China.

The company said it had been using Viagra and other drugs to treat erectile dysfunction in men between the ages of 18 and 64.
